ಗುಡ್‌ ಫ್ರೈಡೆ’ ಪ್ರಯುಕ್ತ ಉಪವಾಸ ಹಮ್ಮಿಕೊಂಡಿರುವ ಕ್ರೈಸ್ತರು ‘ಗರಿಗಳ ಭಾನುವಾರ’ವನ್ನು ಇಂದು ಬೆಳಗಾವಿ ನಗರದ ಇಮ್ಯಾಕ್ಯುಲೆಟ್ ಕಾನ್ಸೆಪ್ಶನ್ (I. C) ಚರ್ಚ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಆಚರಿಸಿದರು.
ಯೇಸುಕ್ರಿಸ್ತರು ಶಿಲುಬೆಗೇರುವ ವಾರದ ಮೊದಲು ಜೆರುಸಲೆಂ ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸುವಾಗ ಯಹೋದಿಗಳು ‘ಒಲಿವ್‌’ ಮರದ ಗರಿಗಳಿಂದ ದಾರಿಯನ್ನು ಶೃಂಗರಿಸಿ ಯೇಸುವನ್ನು ಪಟ್ಟಣದೊಳಗೆ ಬರ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡ ಸಂಕೇತವಾಗಿ ತೆಂಗಿನ ಗರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ಕ್ರೈಸ್ತರು ಭಾನುವಾರದ ಬಲಿ ಪೂಜೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಲ್ಗೊಂಡರು. ಪೂಜೆಗೆ ಮೊದಲು ತೆಂಗಿನ ಗರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಚರ್ಚ್‌ ಆವರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಶೀರ್ವಚಿಸಿ ಬಳಿಕ ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ಮೆರವಣಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಗಿ ಚರ್ಚ್‌ನೊಳಗೆ ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಿದರು. ಚರ್ಚಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ಪೂಜಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿ ತೆಂಗಿನ ಗರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸಿ ಭಕ್ತಾದಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಸಂದೇಶ ನೀಡಿದರು.
